How To: Be an Internet Fashionista

1. Make your ‘fashion’ blog on Tumblr.com, or Blogger.com

2. Pick a title that’s really ambiguous. Indie band song titles work (ie. KarmaPolice, CrownOfLove, SkinnyLove) Or, you could be really obvious about your fashion blog’s title (ie. FashionFever, Love4Fashion, CheckOutMyCloset)

3. Search for ‘fashion’ tags and reblog almost every picture you like decently enough.

4. When you get tired of reblogging, search for photos of cut off jorts… especially if they’re studded.

5. Post pictures of what’s in your purse (only if you have a Chanel compact, BlackBerry/iPhone, cigarettes, ray-bans, and if your purse is ‘vintage’ LV or Chanel)

6. Post quotes or pictures of quotes (that are layered on top of pictures of nebulae) about love, or not needing love, or not giving a fuck.

OK, OK Obviously I’m not serious about this & I am totally owning up to being a hater. BUT COME ON. When I search the fashion tag all I see is this shit and I don’t get it. Style, style is one thing. If this is your style, cool – go for it. And I’m not dissing you for blogging shit you like to look at. I’m not an awesome blogger by any means. I’m just saying all I see on the interwebs these days are sites very similar to what I have described and it’s not inspiring to see. I haven’t seen something new & innovative about fashion since Tumblr came around. So yes, I’m just ranting.

I’m going to carry on with my otherwise fantastic Monday. 🙂

All Hail McQueen.

2011 Costume Institute Gala remembers Alexander McQueen. This is the one event where everybody dresses in their most gorgeous/extravagant/ridiculous gowns and it always looks good, especially with this year’s theme.

The ones that looked good-

My absolute favorites of the night-

(Christina Ricci in Zac Posen. Per.Fec.Tion.)

                                                                     (Shalom Harlow in Marchesa.)

(Diane Kruger in Jason Wu. Legs!)

(I seriously believe that if anyone tried pulling off this dress it would be hideous. Too bad Blake Lively is a goddess.)

                                                                          (Bow down.)

                                                                   (Karolina Kurkova in McQueen.)

I was going to post the bad and boring ones but figured you’ve all seen all of them by now. I can’t even believe how many ladies played it safe for the event, but whatever. On to the next one.

The savage beauty thanks you for your time:

When You’re 21, You’re Not Fun

Guess who’s looking forward to turning 22 in a few days! Besides this being my birthday wish-list, it’s also a spring/summer must-have list.

(J. Crew’s Weekend Line)

(Bikinis by Basta Surf)

(Sailor Crop Top by RVCA)

(Light & Airy maxi dresses to beat the heat this summer)

(Cinco De Mayo anyone?)

(Anything by In God We Trust)

(Rafi Saddle Shoe by Dr. Martens)

(Always Never Shades)

(People Sunglasses by Super Sunglasses… Because I don’t own a single pair of sunnies)

(Cambridge Satchel)

(The Lady’s Apron from Anthro… to motivate me to cook)

(Books – since USPS lost ALL of mine :[ )

& last but not least

I mean, if you haven’t figured it out by now, I AM OBSESSED. Either pup will do, or even better – BOTH.

Queen of the Tragic Kingdom

This is a super long, picture heavy post. Deal with it.

If you’re a (just a) girl who grew up in Southern California then there is probably a high chance that you’ve idolized Gwen Stefani at one point in your life.

For all the 90’s babies who can still sing every word to No Doubt’s Tragic Kingdom, Gwen will forever be the Anaheim-ian, bindi-wearing, plaid pants doting blonde that she was.

Then in the late 90’s/early 2000’s she dyed her hair pink and got braces and went on some alien shit with Return to Saturn… But we all remained loyal and started dying our hair and just wanted a simple kinda life.

Luckily that didn’t last long and she dyed her hair back blonde, No Doubt came out with Rock Steady (not the best album but still fun) and she got married to Gavin.

(Obsessed with her John Galliano dress. Hoping to have an ombre’d one like it in the future)

And finally in the mid-2000’s she discovered her inner Harajuku girl and came out with L.A.M.B./had a baby/remained fabulous, etc…

Anyway this post came about when I was lurking FashionGoneRogue like I do everyday and came across an editorial in Elle UK featuring none other than Gwen herself. I mean I can’t even believe how young she still looks.

One thing that’s remained solid throughout her fashion transformations:

THAT SIX PACK!

So bottom line is Gwen Stefani is immortal and will always be stunning and I’m pretty sure I can find any song that she has sung in the past 20 years and relate it to my life.

MOVE.

Sorry I haven’t updated much, but the lure of MARDI GRAS has taken me away from my computer (surprisingly). I kept trying to update on all the fashion week going on but then I saw this…

Rachel Roy’s Spring 2011 film. not only great cinematography and choreography (by Jermaine Browne) but the flow of the fabrics on the dancers’ bodies is insane!

I normally don’t like modern dance, but this. This is golden.

Love to Love Ya Baby.

I just made my boyfriend’s bed after doing his laundry, I think I deserve these… or at least one of these things:

Ok so I tried sticking to a cheesy valentine’s day theme with reds and pinks but I just couldn’t. I online window shop way too much to just pick one color. Anyway, Have a happy Love day :]
